He received his Ph.D. majoring in Nutritional Biochemistry from Harvard University in 2001. After postdoctoral training at Stanford School of Medicine, he has been a faculty member of Korea University since 2004. He has published more than 130 papers in international journals investigating biological effects of various phytochemicals on energy metabolism and related diseases such as dyslipidemia, diabetes, and obesity. Recently, his major interest is to examine the biological activity of aroma phytochemicals as ligands for ectopic olfactory receptor expressed in metabolic tissues.
